My grandmother was my inspiration for my thesis project. She has lived with Multiple Sclerosis for 31 years, and because of it, her life and the lives of her loved ones are very different than they would have been. In response to this, I created myMS, an app that helps people with MS learn more about their condition as well as connect them to other people living with MS. My visuals for this app are guided by metaphors for how MS affects the body. Using visuals like mice chewing on wires, beavers building dams, circuit boards, and cars and roads, I relate my design to what MS does: it severs the connection from nerves to the brain.
